I’ve been a member of the WIN Network for years now and even though I don’t get hugely involved in the webinars and events, I am still there lurking in the background and helping out whenever I can with press releases and media relations and have found it a huge benefit to both myself personally and to my business.
Since the start of the first lockdown in March 2020 I have received approximately 10 new clients through WIN (and many more over the years) all from referrals either through Samantha directly or through other network members. In January of this year my 6-year-old laptop died at a really bad time when I had no cash flow at all and had been willing it to survive for another few months so I could afford a new one.
I posted about it on the Facebook page, I suppose just to vent and for a little bit of sympathy but didn’t expect any more than that. That evening a lovely lady called Nikki Curran arrived at my door in the middle of lockdown with the laptop from Samantha.
At first I thought it was a joke as I really wasn’t sure what to make of it but she assured me that Samantha had purchased the laptop for me because she needed me to continue working for the network and obviously for my own business as well.
I knew that Samantha was kind and always looking out for other people, but I was blown away by this gesture and must have cried for about an hour. Not only did Nikki present the new laptop to me but she also transferred all of my files from my old computer to the new one.
I always say that I can charge my clients lower fees because all I really need is my laptop and phone so I don’t have the huge overheads that most of the big agencies have. However a huge part of my business is my laptop so without a laptop I didn’t have a business.
I have been able to continue working even with a broken arm, as this fabulous laptop has a dictate button on it so I am currently dictating to the screen. Isn’t technology great? I don’t know what else I can say about Samantha without sounding sycophantic but suffice it to say she’s one hell of a lady and it’s one hell of a network that I’m proud to be part of.
